People going to Sagada have proven that it is a place of marvel. Surrounded by rice terraces adorned with mountains cradling caves of the old, I just knew there’s more to this famous place than meets the eye. A discovery made by not only me, but by everyone who visited this part of the mountain province.
The food is just glorious.

Log Cabin – this place has been cited by the Lonely Planet as one of the must-eat places in Sagada. Owned by French Chef Aklay, (real name Philppe Heyer) who decided …

Any country in the world would have a Chinatown. But the Singapore version of it is quite different. Studded with colonial Dutch shop houses, this tourist attraction also boasts a contemporary mix of pop culture and towering temples of the old. Large sections of it have been declared national heritage sites officially designated for conservation by the Urban Redevelopment Authority.

Disclaimer: this is for travelers who cannot live through going out of town/country without the presence of electronics. Personally, we’d rather fly with less wires. We’re more of a Tom Sawyer rather than 007.

Portable hard drive – it may be a bit tasky to bring your portable hard drive but it is a lifesaver. Compared to bringing a laptop, it is much more convenient. It is a magic hat where you can store hundreds, no thousands of pictures, music and even videos. If you are like me (this is …

Back in college, right after our hospital duty or late night thesis conference at starbucks, there’s always this one destination to feed our starving ascaris and all sorts of parasite in our guts.
Mister Kabab!
Formerly nested at the corner of West  and Quezon Avenues. It’ was a humble non-fine dining restaurant that serves the most authentic Persian cuisine in the greater Manila area. I tried other wannabees but nothing beats the price and flavor of this semi-diner resto.
They started as shawarma-eating Pinoys’ magnet, enticing consumers with their trade secret herbed and …

I was 5 years old then. My parents were quietly watching the telecast of what seemed to be very a momentous event.
There’s a huge crowd, businessmen, nuns, soldiers, ordinary civilians, glowing in bright yellow
celebrating something that I don’t fully understand.
But the next thing I can remember, is that I’m sticking my thumb and index finger in the air while running around the house singing with the rest of the country celebrating what I recall they called rebirth of democracy.
Thank you for teaching me that leadership requires more than just wit …

It is true that a part of my heart is in Hong Kong. My mother has lived and worked there for almost 3/4ths of my life together with her sisters. My favorite nephew and his dad are residents of that country as well. So when I go there, people would almost always assume that I will visit my mom. That time, they were mistaken. I was to visit the most adorable creature in the whole world… PANDAS!

The day of our visit came and there is no storm too …

Just like the Philippines, the month of August is typhoon season for Hong Kong because we share the same storm path. So weeks before the trip we actually thought of praying novenas and offer eggs to Sta. Clara to bid for a good weather. It wouldn’t be picture perfect without the clear blue sky, right?
On our third day, news started to spread like wildfire.
“A SUPER TYPHOON WILL HIT THE COAST IN 12 HOURS!”
Heck, nothing will stop us from going thru our itinerary. No storm will hold us back …

It was one of those days when I get to meet my favorite people. A post birthday celebration with Ron, my best friend of thirteen years, Teresa; and her girlfriend Nosh only meant an insightful evening. After coffee, Pot and Nosh went home and Ron and I decided to try Kitchen located at the ground floor, Greenbelt 3. An ambient restaurant greeted us, complete with rustic high bookcases, dainty chandeliers and rectangular overhead lamps and long tables coupled with benches fit for a fiesta. The high ceiling, draped with heavy …
