CAPTION THIS (Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines)

10 January 2010 10 Comments

superclub
This one caught our eyes when we were walking along Calle Crisologo in Vigan, Ilocos Sur.
We weren’t sure of the exact site where it will be rising, but the Kutcheros confirmed that Legacy Superclub will open in the middle of this UNESCO World heritage site, that same old house where the banner is posted.
We were speechless, didn’t really know what to say.

What are your thoughts about this?

WTF were they thinking? And for the city government to actually permit this? *facepalm*

It is owned by one of the Singsons – of the Chavit family. Night life just got better? Hey, how about making the lives of the people of
Ilocos Sur better? And not just you living the high life while people wallow in poverty? These people have been in power for decades.

Just dropped by legacy super club last june. to be fair about it, the place seemed soundproofed and the facade of the club look the same as the photo above. We were actually pleasantly surprised to see a dance club in the conservation district – one that does not stick out like a sore thumb, architecturally speaking. clever interior too, very modern! How i wish we have something like that in intramuros, as long as it follows building restrictions and appropriate traffic/logistics control are in place.

good thing the construction turned out OK. I just hope they control these commercial establishments to an acceptable degree. but i would still love to see an authentic old crisilogo. no one wants a McDonalds in the middle of Angkor Wat right?

    thanks for the feedback Kero

It is owned by one of Chavit’s son – the current Vice Mayor of Vigan. Who also held his wedding reception at the cobblestoned Calle Crisologo. I mean the entire strip!
