Dublin this September: The Dublin Fringe Festival

Annually held during September, the Dublin Fringe Festival is a highlight of the year in the Irish capital. As Ireland’s largest multi-disciplinary arts festival, it never fails to be a huge success and it continues to go strong, now in its 19th year. Starting on Saturday 7th September (previews from the 5th) and continuing for 16 days until its final day on the 22nd, visitors from far and wide will be in for a real treat. While local residents won’t have to travel far for a piece of the action, there are several Travelodge hotels in Dublin for those who are heading to the city from further afield. If you’re hoping to secure a room, book as early as you can because availability will inevitably reduce as the festival edges closer.

This year will see participation from over 1000 people, spanning across 600 events encompassing theatre, dance, opera, circus and music, providing a real treat for all the senses. With over 30 venues taking part in the shindig, you can guarantee that whatever your arts-related interests, there’ll be something that will float your boat.

Creativity from across the globe will be showcased in the city during the event, entertaining, inspiring and invigorating audiences across the venues. While the full programme hasn’t yet been released (take a look at the website on or after the 14th August for more information), you can still organise your accommodation for the duration of your stay so that whatever the repertoire, you will have somewhere of comfort to lay your head.

Highlights this year include Anu, presenting a series of thirteen shows spanning the days, culminating in a climactic finale that will re-enact the events of the 1913 Dublin Lock-out. Some events are already bookable, including a new piece by HotForTheatre, Break, can be found upstairs at the Project Arts Centre, and costs 16EUR for a full price ticket (OAPs and Students are 14EUR).

As the festival inches closer, more of the anticipated programme will be released so that you can plan an itinerary for your time in the capital. Book one of the Travelodge hotels in Dublin today so that regardless of your schedule, your accommodation is sorted.
