#ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines Meme

Fliptravels.com was invited by the Department of Tourism together with the selected group of media for its launching of the new campaign slogan. After last year’s Kay Ganda Hullabaloo, every body’s itching and excited to have a new banner and move on from the horrid past.
Few minutes after the launch, the hashtag #ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines spread on the web faster than a herpes virus in a college dorm.
But as expected, a lot of nega stars made some scenes all over twitterdom and facebook universe. And I quote “It is just another resurrected …

to the moon and back: the 2011 philippine blog awards

To find out that we have been selected as one of the finalists in this year’s Philippine Blog Awards was enough for us to drop our delicates while walking to our respective offices…
Yes, we want to say it: We did not expect this…
Why? Because a year ago, somebody mentioned that our blog is full of rated contents. Let’s just say you would not recommend us to people below 21 years old, doing research on travel.
But hey, that just makes the nomination and being quoted on the final list, and National …

damn you, captain morgan!

Dear Captain Morgan,
You made me hate myself that night you decided to invade the Philippines. It was worse than your friend Magellan when he booked his cheap package holidays to our archipelago half a century ago and decided to change the fate of my country as my ancestors knew it. I know, I know… You are Welsh and the other guy was Portuguese, but you pirates are all the same. That night, you made me a corporate sell-out. You made me sit, together with my friends, at a marked table. A table that …

of firsts and seconds…

It was one of those waking moments when I thought I was still trapped in la-la land because the text message that woke me up read something like, “we are being invited to guest on a TV show. Get your ass online.” So I staggered in the middle of the night and checked our email. Lo and behold, it was true. But then as I scanned the message, the taping dates fell on the dates Ron and I will celebrate his birthday in God-knows-where. I contacted the researcher and our chance of making ourselves …

suck, squeeze, bang and blow

Men are particularly drawn to fast moving objects, noise polluting sounds and adrenalin rushing hotness–and I just summed-up an overview of what happened in this year’s Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix.
It was a last minute gig when a fellow travel blogger and friend Lloyd shot me a holler that he will be here in Singapore to cover the event. So he tagged me along. I know I’m such a lucky bastard to score a $1,400 worth of event passes. It is the time of the year when the Singapore Land Transportation …

pinoy travelers’ weekend

Who would have known that this September would be one of the most memorable months of our travel blogging experience. Years ago, we would never imagine getting within a hand-span distance from people who live and breathe travel. But the bug hit, and the rest of our not-so-boring, but still boring, lives are history.
First stop was the Solesister’s event “From Glampackers to Poorpackers” where I was invited to talk at the opening night. The topic: “Female Travel.” I know, I know… I felt a bit lost too, but I did try …

tour de force in sri lanka

We came, we saw, we kicked some arse!
Our short trip in Sri Lanka was packed with stories we would not get tired of telling over and over–over some bottles of beer. We got loads of pictures and gigabytes of video clips as proof of our little Indian ocean conquest. But more than the whole experience and those two dimensional accounts in my hard drive, we were able to leave our imprints in this Non-Indian island south of India in the middle of the Indian ocean.
We never expected that we would make …

you guys should go to….

Last week we got a bit generous and decided to run a contest in celebration of our blog’s third year anniversary. We asked the readers to send us a photo of them telling us what place we should visit next by simply writing: “fliptravels.com, you guys should go to/visit__________” in a piece of paper!

So who won the NatGeo Buff and a posh Dinner in Manila?
We picked two of our fave photo entries and both pictures got the same undertone–SARCASM!
and we love it!

ON THREE

When we started this blog, it did not matter if we only had five regular readers. It never disturbed us when our page ranking dropped down the floor. We just wanted to have an outlet where we can share the stories of our travels. After 193 articles, almost 600 GB of photos and video clips, 3 magazine articles and an international cover, we are still rolling stronger than ever.
For the past three years of traveling together, we have endured 56 plane rides, an unexpected 27 hours of hard-seat train adventure, …
