pinoy travelers’ weekend

Who would have known that this September would be one of the most memorable months of our travel blogging experience. Years ago, we would never imagine getting within a hand-span distance from people who live and breathe travel. But the bug hit, and the rest of our not-so-boring, but still boring, lives are history.

First stop was the Solesister’s event “From Glampackers to Poorpackers” where I was invited to talk at the opening night. The topic: “Female Travel.” I know, I know… I felt a bit lost too, but I did try my best to bring out the female in me and talk about how it is to travel as a woman.

From left to right: Marky of, Jerome of, Darwin of, Lois and Chichi of, Ces’t Moi, Lauren of, Ed of, Christine of, Gael of Bottom: James of (sorry, it had to come out that way, James…)

Next stop was at Cubao X for one of Dispatch Magazine’s Travel X Thursdays entitled “Imprints: Soul on Sole / A Travel Art Installation Event.”* This unique exhibit featured the footwear of different independent travelers that show their personalities through the trusty travel companions: shoes, flipflops, whatnot.

How did Ron’s shoes get in there? (Photo by Ferdz Decena)

With Dong of, Lauren, Ferdz of, Chyng of, and Nina of

Luke Ladrigan’s Sanuk sandals

Romi f*cng Garduce’s footwear placed very near ours…

Robert Alejandro’s shoes rubbing dirt with ours. Aaarrrgghh!

With so much happening in town, not to mention a lot of commitments, Ron had to fly in from Singapore to add to the hyperactive crowd.

Getting absolut-ly drunk with Lloyd of, Mica of, and Ed of

Drunk and never without any hangover, Ron and I found ourselves in Tagaytay to attend a wedding of a dear friend.

Ron’s driving license is already expired, so we tried booking a ride from an online car rental, but after a “portugal” reply from the “portugal” operator, they cancelled four hours before the agreed pick-up time. We should’ve just book from a legit portugal car hire. pfrt!

After spending about six hours in the highlands, we quickly hailed the bus and slept our way to ROX for the closing night of the Solesister’s week-long travel talks and exhibit where Ron talked about finding romance on the road. I know, I know… He was pretty lost too, but managed perfectly by putting the microphone away from his lips when spilling the beans.

From Left to Right: Lauren, Darwin, Mica, Rob of, Joel of, Brenna of, Eileen of, Lois, Chichi, Moi, Ron, Catherine of, Jerome, Gael, and Ed.

Flip’n Soles

To cap the month off, we gave our two shotgun-readers a NatGeo Buff and one uber nice dinner date (with a reader who literally memorized our blog stories) before Ron flew back to Singapore.

Till next September? Hopefully not…

*The exhibit Imprints: Soul on Sole is still viewable at ROX Bonifacio High Street, Taguig.

Hi, I’m an undercover fan of your site and adventures but I was just always to shy to comment. You’ve had a nice journey thus far. I’ve been wondering if you guys have any advice/tips on traveling from California to Sagada, Mountain Province? Any advice will help a lot but if you don’t have any and you think I’m just being a weird stalker that’s okay too. Just thought I’d ask, have a nice day!
